01 / SERVICE DESIGN · 2026
From “Which department?” to “What do I need to do?” A clearer, task-based campus service hub.

Context & challenge | In this fictional scenario, campus services sit across different departments. Students must understand the organization before completing a task.
The goal is to let the system handle that complexity and make the experience feel as natural as an everyday conversation.
My role | Concept research, information architecture, core journeys, interface system and interaction prototype. Room booking anchors the design, which extends to maintenance, requests and progress tracking with consistent starts, waiting states and completion feedback.
Design principles | Start with the task before asking for information. Show the next step before offering detail.
Allow interruptions and make returning easy. The interactive modules below show how the concept evolved and which trade-offs shaped it.
Demo note | This is a fictional concept project. The school, research participants, testing process and every result figure are constructed for demonstration.
Choose a stage to follow the concept from research to refinement. The school, participants and research process are fictional.
Week 01
Mapped maintenance, room bookings and document requests into one service journey. The fictional interview scenarios shared one pattern: people knew what they needed, but not where to begin. The problem became a lack of direction, rather than a lack of entry points.
Explore each option and the trade-offs behind it. This is a fictional design decision.
What should a first-time visitor answer first?
Matches the school’s internal structure and is simple to maintain. New students, however, must understand departmental responsibilities before they can begin.

“Start a request” provides the primary entry point. Learning spaces, campus life and wellbeing organize services around needs before teams.
Select a bar to inspect task completion across iterations, or change the sort order. Every figure is for demonstration only.
Simulated version C adds draft recovery and explicit status feedback. The fictional 89% result illustrates the concept’s iteration story.
