Built the request system and the live page for the campus station. Two thousand concurrent listeners at peak, and it never went down.

What I did
The first version had every browser asking the server every three seconds whether there was a new song. Two thousand people is seven hundred requests a second, and the server gave up on the second night.
Switching to the server pushing changes when they happened cut requests by two orders of magnitude. It was the first time I properly understood what who-is-asking does to a system.
