Ledgerline

A plain-text ledger. The book is one file, lives happily in version control, and will still open in ten years.

What I did

The problem with finance apps is that the data lives in somebody else's database.

Ledgerline does one thing: it parses a ledger a person wrote by hand and answers questions like where the money went this month.

It is the most downloaded of the three open-source packages. The best review came from someone two years in: three laptops later, the book has never been lost.
