What I did

Small teams do not have a release engineer, so the tool has to be the kind one person is willing to use on a Friday afternoon. Relay splits a release into five explicit stages, and a failed stage re-runs on its own rather than from the start.

It now has four thousand daily users, mostly teams of three to ten. The most-mentioned feature is the least visible one: every release leaves a page you can send to a colleague.
