Furniture · Porto
I design in solid wood and sheet steel, and make the first of everything myself. A drawing the workshop downstairs cannot build is not finished.
Method
Most furniture is designed for the moment of purchase: how it photographs, how it feels in a showroom. Almost none is designed for the day somebody inherits it and has to decide whether to keep it.
That single question settles most decisions. It rules out glue where a bolt would do, and finishes that cannot be repaired by somebody who is not me.
01
By hand, badly, in a week. The drawing always lies about at least one joint.
02
Three months in the flat, noticing what I stop using and why.
03
If a part cannot be replaced with hand tools, the piece is not finished.
Pieces
Three pieces from the last four years. The first two have pages of their own.
Seating · 2026
Nine parts, four bolts, one hex key. Flat-packs, and every joint can be tightened by whoever owns it in 2040.

Storage · 2025
A visible steel spine instead of a hidden one, because a shelf that sags is worse than a shelf that shows how it does not.

Made for a corridor 620mm wide, which decided almost everything about it.
