Interaction design · Class of 2027

Build it small, then watch it work.

Interaction design student in Melbourne. Two internships, one radio show, and a stubborn belief that a form should never ask the same thing twice.

The short version

I would rather ship something small than plan something large.

Most of what I have built started as a weekend annoyance. So far that is the only reliable way I have found to tell whether a problem is real before spending three months on it.

The rest is unglamorous: talk to the eight people who have the problem, build the smallest thing that could fail, and watch how they actually use it.

Find the annoyance

Something I keep working around by hand. If nobody else has to work around it, it is only my preference.

Build the smallest version

One screen, real data, no account system. Quick enough that only the idea is being tested.

Watch before deciding

Two weeks of use answers the question that two months of discussion does not.

By the numbers

Three years, counted honestly

My own project log, 2024–2026

61% of what I start never ships

It is the number I am actually proud of. Killing an idea early is the cheapest decision available.

Experience

Where I have been useful

Northwind Digital UX design intern

Drop-off down 22%

UX intern on a transport agency's concession application. I find where applicants give up, test the fix with the help desk, and write the words on every screen of the new flow.

Mar 2026 — PresentMelbourne

Fernhill Community Radio Volunteer producer

No silent slots

Produced a weekly late-night show, then took on the part nobody wanted: forty volunteers swapping shifts in a group chat. One shared roster later, no slot went silent for the rest of the year.

Aug 2025 — Jan 2026Melbourne

Studio Kaya Design research intern

18 pharmacists interviewed

A summer at a small studio, interviewing pharmacists for a dosage label redesign. The useful findings came from watching them work, not from what they said in the interviews.

Selected work

Three things I finished

Two of these have a write-up of their own. The third is just the card, and that is enough.

Ledger for student clubs

Committee handovers lost every receipt each May. One shared ledger, no accounts, a link that expires with the term.

Room booking that admits it is full

The old flow showed every slot and failed at checkout. This one shows four, and they are all real.

Every tree on my street, mapped

A Saturday habit that became a map the council now links to: forty-one trees, each with a photo, a species and a planting year.

What I do when nothing is due

Also me. Most of what I have built came out of one of these.

Process

What it looks like before it looks like anything

She asked the help desk before she asked the client, and that is why the new form works.
